Gatesville High School Auditorium

Mr. James Baize, former Superintendent GISD had initially requested a “production quality” system.  Even after significant cuts in the funds allocated to this project, Clawson AV installed a system that exceeds expectations.

The auditorium had been a constant source of disappointment for event audiences for many years because of the lack of adequate sound reinforcement.  Different departments of the school had purchased portable systems from various catalogs and music stores to use. Because of poor design (for the room) and incorrect wiring the performance of these systems was poor and even resulted in hazardous conditions for the students and faculty.  Students often carried the large speaker cabinets and wired these systems for operation.  All of the wiring created a cable mess at the foot of the stage making the systems unstable and the room really unsafe to use.

The auditorium was built prior to 1960 without extra space for AV needs.  The purchaser wanted the Front of House control desk components to be portable because funds were not available for the construction of a permanent control room area.  Consequently the vulnerable parts of the system would normally be stored in a locked closet.

So we set the mixer and CD/Cassette Deck up in appropriate cases with multi-pins.  Also, the system AC is programmed to power up sequentially.  Ms. Carla Donaldson (the theatre instructor) can come into the room with the mixer in hand and with the twist of the multi-pin, and the turn of a key, the entire system powers up correctly and is ready to rock ‘n roll.  This system will certainly do that and more.

“I was shocked at the way the room sounds.  It is essentially a big cement block fish bowl of a room with hard wood seating and tiled floors.  But now after minimal acoustical treatment and an audio system with “bunker busting” power the room really does sound great for whatever program material students want to hear – loud or not.”
